WINMAU SUPPORTS INAUGURAL SALOU INTERNATIONAL OPEN

Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, has announced that it is to support the inaugural Salou International Open to be played at the Pavelló Cap Salou, Costa Dorada in the Catalan region of north east Spain.

The event, which takes place from October 20th to 21st 2017 and carries a total prize fund of more than €4,000, will be played on Blade 5 dartboards. It will comprise Men’s and Ladies match play competitions with players earning BDO and WDF ranking points as well as places in the 2018 Winmau World Masters for the winners of the best-of-11 leg finals. There will also be a Blind Pairs competition.

According to organiser Peter Cadogan, well over 100 players are expected to take part, many of them from overseas – attracted by the prospect of some late autumn sun.  “Prices for the weekend start at just €34 per person per night,” he says. “It will be a fantastic festival of darts played in a wonderful location.

“It’s great to be working with a darts brand that is truly committed to growing darts internationally. The sport is growing in Catalunya and across Spain so the more events we can stage here can only be good for our players looking to improve their game.”

Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director, added: “Catalunya is a real hotbed for darting talent right now, and events such as the Winmau Salou International Open do a fantastic job in encouraging local players to test themselves against overseas talent. I am delighted that Winmau is associated with what I am sure will become a major event on the Spanish darting calendar.”

The Winmau Salou International Open is being run in association with the Federacio Catalana de Dards and is supported by Salou Council.
