"There's one question I am constantly asked by my fellow darts public
as I travel up and down the country, and that's why do I use a Winmau dartboard
during my exhibitions? This is, of course, one of the easier questions to answer
(I won't go into detail on the other questions I have had!). Many thousands
of dart fans will know that, when it comes to choosing a dartboard for practice
or serious play, there is only one company that offers the ultimate playing surface
- the world famous Winmau Dartboard Company. Harry Kicks has become
a close personal friend of mine over the many years I have been dealing with Winmau.
His late father invented the Winmau dartboard after the Second World War, so Harry
knows a thing or two when it comes to product quality. Two years ago,
Harry asked me what does the average dart player look for when choosing a dartboard.
I said "What are you asking me for? I'm not your average darts player, I've been
on the tele!". What Harry really meant to say was "How can Winmau build the ultimate
dartboard - one that will be unrivalled by cheap imitation?". I said "We don't
like the dreaded bounce out, or the wires twisting or going rusty" (like the fasteners
on his wallet).
This
all went into the melting pot and the Blade III was born.
When Harry
showed me the initial prototype, I could not believe my eyes. "How do you keep
the 25 ring in place?" I quizzed him. The bullseye looked as clean as a baby's
…… (well, maybe not that clean!). The area around the bull looked sharper and
clearer - this dartboard had the least amount of metal on the face of the board
than any board I had ever seen.
The Blade III has set a new standard for dartboards and one that will
be very hard to copy or improve upon. A unique patented High-Tech
wire locking system results in the doubles and trebles being positioned
just above the playing surface. This avoids the possibility of the
wires becoming twisted or embedded in the sisal. Smooth edges on the
Blade III dividers provide a cleaner scoring area and reduce the chance
of a bounce out.
That's why the Blade III is used at the Embassy World Professional
Darts Championships, Winmau World Masters, North American Open and
many more top tournaments throughout the world. You should hear the
moans and groans when the top dart players arrive at a venue and find
out it's not a Winmau dartboard. The moans are even louder when there
is a nine dart finish bonus on offer!
I leave you, my fellow dart players, with one thought: "You only get
what you pay for". The Blade III is worth every penny. Take my advice,
buy one and increase your averages".
"THAT'S THE WAY TO DO IT"
